The one stop site for teaching reading and spelling to any one!
A synthetic, systematic Phonics Programme for all ages and abilities
Welcome! On this site you will find a complete FREE reading and spelling programme and it works with very good results. It is a programme of systematic synthetic phonics. That is, it teaches students how to build words from the smallest components of language, namely letters. It will work for all people regardless of age; for those with dyslexia, autism and students with other special needs, or none at all. It can be used with individual children, by parents and tutors, or with groups of children or the whole class in the classroom - the way I used it when I was teaching full time.
We want to show you that teaching reading can be made simple!
It does not need an expensive programme, or an expert to teach it.
This programme is compatible with all school reading programmes and the UK Governments 'Letters and Sounds' programme, used by many state schools.
We want to enable you to help your child learn to read, read well, and love reading. This programme is simple to use, needing no expensive equipment and little printing is necessary, though I do include free worksheets, games and reading books to help, if you want to use them. We hold your hand all the way through. You could teach the whole programme with an alphabet book, a pencil and a notebook/paper to write in/on and some card from cereal packets to make flashcards. It need only take twenty minutes a day during the school term, Monday to Friday.
Your child/ren can read and write well!
I am a qualified teacher (B. Ed) and have taught in a state primary school for 10 years, having responsibility for the teaching of reading (focusing on phonics) throughout the whole school. I used this programme with all of my YR/Y1 classes with great success. I am also the mother of two growing lads whom I home-educate. Vera Conway taught for most of her working life in infant schools in London (KS1) but on retirement specialised in teaching children and adults with special needs to read and spell. She is the author of six books.
Between us we have fine-tuned our technique to make it truly simple and truly effective.
