Dictation for Friday (Practice ‘a’ family):
Frank ran on the sand. He got bad cramp. He sat on the bank. He is glad he did not land on the crab.
Teaching tips:
· Help with the consonant blends if needed, but they should be easier now than they were when studied for Level 1.
· For reading, help with the triple consonant blends: scr, str.
· Discuss meanings of words.
· A noun is a naming word. We have lots of nouns on this list: hand, sand, land, crab, camp and bank. These words do not need capital letters unless they begin a sentence. However, the name Frank is a proper noun. It is the name of a person, therefore we need to use a capital letter.
· A verb is the name we give to a doing word. We met doing words in Level 1. They tell of something that is being done, e.g. stand and grab.
