Teaching Tips:
· garden: link to chicken and remind pupil of rule: each syllable must have a vowel sound. Most common spelling error: gardn.
· Your student may try and put 'ck' on the end of the words ending with 'k' when spelling them - just gently keep reinforcing the rule..
'ck only with ack, eck, ick, ock, uck!'
· Practice adding ing and ed to the verbs on the list.
· We do not need to use speech marks to indicate thought, as speech marks indicate that something is being said out loud, but we do need a comma before the ‘he thinks’.
· For READING: Talk about endings on words (suffixes). In this case we have words ending in ‘ness’ and ‘less’.
