ear
'ear' also makes two other sounds to the one already learnt in Levels 1 and 2.
Listen carefully to the sounds in these words. Be sure to read them to your pupil first, and let the student feel and hear the sounds in each word.
It will be a matter of memory to remember which words belong in which family 'ear'/'air' family.
As for previous levels, play games to help the pupil remember.
Help the pupil to chunk each word. Say the word and listen for the natural breaks. Remember - each chunk of a word must contain a vowel - or a vowel sound (in the case for example of words with 'y' making a vowel sound.)

ear (air/er) - dictation
Dictation for Friday
One day Sam got up very early. He wanted to hear the birds singing as the sun arose. He crept downstairs, missing the creaking floorboards. He was still wearing his bedclothes. He opened the door and stepped out onto the cold earth. Upstairs, Tom got out of bed and saw that Sam's bed was empty. He searched for Sam everywhere. At last, he found him outside. "What are you doing out here?" asked Tom.
"Dad, I am having a great time. I am learning a lot about birds. I just heard a Robin and a blackbird singing!"

I searched everywhere but I could not find it!
I like to learn new things.
The earth is round, not flat.
Have you heard the news today?
Shall we have pears or peaches?
I must not tear my new dress,
The bear was growling.
My heart is beating fast.
Can you compare these two numbers?
How much is the train fare to London?
