This week we look at some longer words containing the sound 'ar'.
These letters make different sounds in different words.

The Auction
Yesterday, Paul went to an auction near the department store. There were crowds of people, all eager for a bargain. Paul had seen an old trumpet that he was hoping to get for himself. The auction began. To begin with, Paul was not interested in the items being sold, but soon it was time to bid for the trumpet. Paul perked up. He made a bid. Then a lady with auburn hair made a higher bid. Paul thought he had lost the trumpet. The man at the front said, "Any more bids?" Paul quickly looked around him. No one else seemed to pay attention, so he made a bid for one pound more than the lady with auburn hair. To his delight, he heard the man say, "Going, going, gone to the man in the black cap."
Paul was delighted with his remarkable bargain.
