We have already learnt to read come and some. Both of these words are in this family, where the 'o' is saying 'u'. Once this rule is learnt, these words are easy to sound out.
One thing to remember is that although some of the 'o' saying 'u' words sound as if they end in the letter 'v', it is a fact that no English letter ends in 'v' but must always have an 'e' to follow.
The 'e' is silent, they are not powerful 'e' words. We say 'An 'e' to make the word look pretty!'.
