th
Many children have trouble saying 'th' so this lesson is a good time to help your child to say these words correctly. I call this the 'tongue between the teeth' sound as to make it, the child must put the tongue right between the teeth. Practice making the sound to begin with, if it is hard for your pupil. Then practice saying the words that begin with 'th' and conclude with the words with a final 'th' sound.
This will help to avoid the child developing the habit of saying them as initial 'f/v' words, and therefore spelling them as initial 'f/v' words (vat, vis, fing etc...)
Do be ready to gently correct your child as we move forward and remind him /her to 'put the tongue between the teeth'.

Odd Words: None
Dictation: Revise the /nk/ sounds
Tom will go to the bank to get cash. He will go to the shop and get a drink and a sweet to suck.
Teaching notes:
Monday: Teach as before. Note:
'Th' is said in two ways. Practice for yourself... 'thing' where the 'th' is almost blown through - a blowing 'th', or 'this' where 'th' makes a harder sound. Just be aware of this fact and demonstrate it to your child when appropriate.
Most make the right sound without extra tuition.
Speech:
Many children have difficulty saying 'th' and this is a wonderful time to make sure your pupil is saying it properly. Persevere until s/he does, gently correcting if s/he pronounces it incorrectly, even after this lesson has passed. I remind my pupils by saying 'Tongue between the teeth!'
These words are best practiced in sentences, as they are mostly not nouns and do not have a 'picture' association to link to them but most are commonly met words.
Tuesday to Thursday Teaching Notes:
· Continue to support your pupil in the writing of sentences. Encourage him/her to hear where to put a full stop for him/herself. Encourage any signs that s/he is beginning to do so.
Ensure the child leaves finger spaces too as they can get forgotten as the child is concentrating so much on his/her writing.

Teaching your child to read without computers is best, but if you really have to let your child watch this, then it is here for your use.
